changing platforms

TASK 3 changing platforms                        20th September 2017

In today's media world, adverts cross over a range of platforms - streaming, social media, not just TV.

Most audiences nowadays do not watch TV ads unless it is a big event. e.g. sporting events, x factor final.

Advertising remains a key source of revenue for all media. As people stream on demand services, advertising has changed. e.g. pre roll ads which you MUST watch. differ to pop ups.

read and summarise the article as a whole:
  • This article is saying that TV ads are a thing of the past because before, we had to watch them and it was a good way of learning about a product with out getting up but now there are a range of ways to avoid it, some people record and use demand so they can skip ads or go on their phones while the adverts are playing. so ads are appearing on social media platforms.
summarise each paragraph in one bullet point:
  • TV ads are beginning to lose their relevance like cassette players.
  • there weren't any easier alternatives and we don't have time.
  • they're the least effective way of learning about a brand.
  • people are recording and on demand to avoid watching ads.
  • what are brands alternatives?
  • we wont engage with it
  • adverts effectiveness will slowly fade away.
